The city of Los Angeles is one of the largest and most densely populated cities in the United States of America. The city itself actually encompasses a great number of neighborhoods or boroughs that many people often believe to be independent cities. Almost every kind of real estate can be found within the city limits. Real estate in Los Angeles includes everything from beachfront estates and high-rise condos, to rural desert acreage and secluded canyon cabins. California's modern metropolis is a mix of urban, suburban, and natural environments from the ocean to the desert.
The San Gabriel Valley begins just to the east of the city of Los Angeles. Pasadena is the largest and most populated city in the valley and is the most recognized as well. Set against the steep rugged San Gabriel Mountains this region offers a mix of suburban and more natural settings and even some rural properties in the mountains and at the eastern edge of the valley. This is the place where untamed desert meets the Los Angeles suburbs. Though the region is known for having larger single-family home parcels than the city of Los Angeles and for larger homes in general as well, there are still a large number of condos and townhouses in the region.
